Menzies wins Tour of Elk Grove on RED
|
Local and international dominance continued for SRAM RED componentry as Sunday’s Tour of Elk Grove wrapped up with Team OUCH/Maxxis' powerhouse Karl Menzies taking the overall. The "richest" stage race in the world was won on the heels of Menzies solid opening TT performance, where he finished within striking distance of the overall lead. From there the big Australian, who currently resides in Michigan, proceeded to systematically take bonus sprint seconds and move past race leader Tom Zirbel (Bissell). Menzies and his SRAM RED-equipped teammates remained vigilant, keeping him safely in the green and yellow leaders jersey, as many the main challengers were very close on time. Menzies reportedly collected $25,000 for the win. The final criterium stage was won by SRAM-equipped Fly V Australia's Jonathon Cantwell. Special SRAM invitee Chris Horner (Astana) finished fifth overall. Michael Zellmann mzellmann at sram.com US Road PR & Media Manager 312 664 8800 Chicago IL |
