Gold, Silver and Bronze suit SRAM! SRAM is honored to equip the world’s best Road, Triathlon and MTB athletes, and proudly thanks them for the exciting racing and incredible results they’ve provided us all over the past several weeks. Only a few hours after the opening ceremonies, Alexander Vinokourov (KAZ) claimed the Road Racing title. On the Time Trial front, American Kristin Armstrong won Gold in the women’s event, and Tony Martin (GER) Silver in the men’s race. Pre-race Triathlon favorite Alistair Brownlee (GBR), the 24-year-old British prodigy, controlled his race from start to finish with a winning time of 1:46:25. Javier Gomez (ESP) captured silver and Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) completed the podium with bronze. For the women, after an amazing sprint finish, Lisa Norden (SWE) claimed Silver with an identical time (1:59:48) as new Champion Nicola Spirig (SUI). All road and triathlon athletes rode SRAM RED-2012. On Sunday, August 12, Jaroslav Kulhavy (CZE) became the new XC Champion after one of the most exciting races of the year. Right behind him Nino Schurter (SUI) secured Silver and Marco Aurelio Fontana (IT) Bronze. Kulhavy’s victory in London was only XX1’s second XC race, having previously won the World Cup Championship. XX1 = Unstoppable.
