|
LEGENDS WINNING LEGENDS Julien Absalon Wins in Houffalize, SRAM Sweeps Podium The legendary race in Houffalize, Belgium is a symbol of World Cup XC racing similar to legendary riders like two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and four-time World Champion Julien Absalon. Last Sunday Absalon (Orbea) conquered his 18th career World Cup win in Houffalize in front of Nino Schurter (Scott-Swisspower), Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannondale Factory Racing), Burry Stander (Specialized) and Manuel Fumic (Cannondale Factory Racing). Again, SRAM and Avid were represented on all five steps of the podium at a Cross Country World Cup. XX remains undefeated in the Men's XC World Cup since 2010. While Absalon won on a proven combination of SRAM XX drivetrain, AVID XX World Cup Brakes, and a RockShox SID XX fork, Fontana, Fumic and other SRAM riders gave the new SRAM X0 Type 2 rear derailleur the first test in an XC World Cup battle with two podium spots as a result. Nino Schurter still leads the overall World Cup classification after two races, with the next World Cup round scheduled for May 13th in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
