Name: Kyle Ebbett
Nationality: American
Date of Birth: 7/5/73
Status? Married
Currently Live? Essex, VT. The Green Mountain state.
Do you travel with a favorite something to help ease life on the road? Yes it's my lob wedge. I play and practice golf as much as possible. It will never take the place of my bikes, but it is a fun way to challenge myself off the bike. It cost me a few bucks at the Sea Otter though when Eric Schutt stepped to the plate with a twenty dollar bet for me to hit this target 40 yards out, easy money from grass but this shot was out of the dirt parking lot, well I missed buy 4 feet and lost 20 bucks!
Team? I ride for Scott USA.
How long have you been riding? Since I was way too little. I have an older brother, so it made it easy. I did what he did.
How tall is EBOT? 6'5" when I'm around my Mom. She always tells me to stand up straight.
What SRAM/RockShox/Avid/Truvativ Components? SRAM X.O shifters and derailleur, RockShox Argyle and Totem forks, Avid Juicy Carbon and Codes brakes, Truvativ OCT cranks.
Started Cycling? I have been on my bike since I was walking. I built my own BMX track in my back yard when I was 8.
What was your first bike? Spiral BMX. One day, my friends older brother ghosted it of a jump and snapped it in half. My Dad's a teacher in high school, so he brought it in and had it welded. So I got my first good BMX after that. A Schwinn Predator.
Favorite Race / Event? It used to be Mount Snow NORBA, now its CrankWorx.
What's with the hair? Are you having some sort of contest with Tony Stewart? Ya, my hair is out of control; it just grows like weeds. The hair people need to test my head find out why, then sell it to those in need.
Favorite Ride / Trail / Line? I love big mountain climbs with the bike on your back, have lunch, and then the epic ride down trails that have never seen a bike.
Most Memorable Event / victory? It wasn't a win but, RedBull Ride to the Lake in Germany. I placed 3rd with Strait and McCaul to my left. We partied every night, and people got kicked out of town. Prize money was taken to pay for hotel damage by others. It was nuts. Thing are different now. We have more respect and only trash the rooms Cam pays for.
When was the first time you tried a backflip and how did it go? People love the flip and riders that can't do it, hate it. I never hated it I just thought I would never be able to do it. I was at camp Woodward East with Jeff Lenosky, and he felt the need to flip so he did. I was happy for him, but then it became his mission to get me to flip. Being the good sport, I got some advise from one of the BMX pros that lives there. I did what he said, it worked I did a great flip into the foam. Jeff was not done with me yet. Only after a hand full of times into foam he wants me to do it for real. I was like no no no no, Jeff never stops, so I did it and it was such a rush and felt so cool. I now love the trick.
What's the strangest thought you've had while mid air? I'm not sure. Wow, I really can't think of any. I have said some crazy stuff when I miss tricks or going to come up short. R rated usually.
Achievements – Titles? Good Guy.
Goals? To win Teva Games and top ten Crankworks, But I just found out my top 10 status from 06 is out and I'm going to have to compete in a qualifier to get in Crankworx. It's all good. I will be working on my trails for filming and hope to put together a kick butt spot in Don Hampton's new film.
What motivates you? My late Dad. He was such a hard worker but always had fun and did what he loved.
Training tips or tricks? Train, people are lazy and want the easy way out, you have to practice. Over and over.
Current Gas Powered Vehicle/s? Minis I ride Stock 50cc. I have other bikes but this is the one I kick ass on. I have a sweet track in my back yard and I race every chance I get. I was second at the Transworld Motocross at Moto Town SX. They had like ten heats and only top 3 made it to the main. It was a sick main. I came out the gate held my line though turn one and was in 2nd right on the tail of first. We battled all the way and lapped most the field. He managed to hold me off. Next time.
Favorite thing to do that doesn't involve a bike? Golf. But I wish I could make my bike hold clubs and ride instead of walk.
Pick up your iPod and press play…what do you hear? AC/DC
Favorite food? Breakfast. I have to have it every day.
Pets? I have a cat. She thinks she is a dirt bike, all ways making motor noises and pealing out all fours.
Favorite place to visit? My Family.
Favorite movies or shows? Supercross, and Golf. Its crazy all those years of being bummed my dad was watching golf. Now me.
What single piece of advice would you give to up younger riders that are just coming up? If you are or have a young talent and they want to be a top world level competitor. You need a manager/coach, one that has all the experience of the field he/she chooses. And most important, Ride till dark every day and have fun.
