ONE. TO WIN THEM ALL.

Nicolas Vouilloz wins round two of the Enduro World Series, Cristoph Sauser and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja are the new Marathon World Champions

Nicolas Vouilloz in Val d’Allos

Nicolas Vouilloz (Lapierre) rode to victory at the second round of the Enduro World Series in Val d’Allos, France. Over the two days of racing, with more than 10,000m of descending, Vouilloz rode hard but smart, avoiding the crashes and flats that plagued the rest of the field, accumulating precious seconds that earned him the final win. The 10 times downhill World Champion is back on the top spot of the podium, and with him SRAM Roam 60 wheels get their first victory in enduro racing. Rene Wildhaber (Trek) proved how quickly he can adapt to enduro’s format by taking 4th overall, while Jerome Clementz, slowed by a flat on the first day, took several stage wins to regain time and finish in 7th. In the women’s field Anneke Beerten (Specialized) took 3rd place. With Clementz sitting in 2nd and Vouilloz in 3rd in the overall, the Enduro World Series moves to Les 2 Alpes for the 3rd round on July 6th and 7th during the Crankworx festival (all photos: Sven Martin)

XX1 rules Marathon World Championships with Cristoph Sauser and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja

Cristoph Sauser (Specialized) and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja (Multivan Merida) are the new Marathon World Champions, both riding on SRAM XX1, RockShox SID 29 and Avid XX brakes. The course in Kirchberg, Austria, was 95km long and featured four major climbs, for a total of 3,700m grueling meters of uphill. Sauser upped the tempo steadily along the 4.5 hours of racing, placing the final and decisive attack on the last technical descent, while Dahle, more of an XC specialist, decided to build her lead in the first part of the race. She succeeded, and defended her first place until the end to take the rainbow jersey (photos: Michal Červený and Armin M. Küstenbrück)
