Cross Control

SRAM’s weekend in the U.S. cyclocross scene could be described as about 80 percent great. Of the two major pro events on U.S. soil, featuring 10 total pro races, only two were not won by a SRAM equipped athletes. We here at SRAM are pretty content with an .800 batting average.

The Cincinnati Cyclocross Festival featured three consecutive days of racing where conditions varied, it was generally cooler and wet (aside from Covington’s mudfest).

Katie Compton (Planet Bike) and Jeremy Powers (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com) both took three dominant wins for three days straight on three different courses, perfectly displaying their skills and speed. Both powered away from elite fields and Powers even won the crowd support by bunny hopping the barriers during Sunday’s finale.

Nearly 800 miles away (please don’t check my mileage) the Providence Cyclocross Festival was taking place and the podiums were almost completely SRAM dominated, with the exception of a single spoiler, Luna’s Katarina Nash (and remember, there’s no booing in cyclocross, congrats to her).

The two Men’s events were all Tim Johnson (Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com), who has fully recovered from a shoulder injury. Following Johnson was teammate Jamey Driscoll, who would place second both days ahead of another SRAM-equipped rider, Chris Jones (Champion Systems).

While the Women’s events in Providence were won by Nash, those chasing here were all SRAM-equipped, including Mary McConneloug (Seven-Kenda), Amy Dombrowski (Richard Sachs) and Meredith Miller (Specialized/Cal Giant).

SRAM has invested thousands of hours into the quality of their componentry. And while SRAM’s lightweight, efficient, and ergonomic componentry have distinct advantages for the road, it is those advantages added to SRAM’s incredibly positive Exact Actuation shifting and single lever DoubleTap shifting that make to incredible difference for cyclocross athletes when the road turns to dirt.

Congrats to all our riders and continued success through the cyclocross season!
