Jeremy Powers is U.S. National Cyclocross Champion
An emotional Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) rolled across the finish line first, with the weight of never having won a national title finally lifted. Powers made the most of his late attack and held off two-time champion Ryan Trebon (Felt-LTS) in the unexpectedly warm and muddy conditions of Madison, WI, at the US Cyclocross National Championships.
A SRAM athlete for the past five years, Powers was brilliant on the day when it mattered to him most, and took his first stars and stripes jersey on SRAM Black RED drivetrain and Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes.
The (SRAM, Avid and Zipp-equipped) Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com women, Kaitie Antonneau and Nicole Duke, have been climbing towards the top of podiums since the beginning of what feels like an incredibly long cross season. Their rise peaked at Sunday’s Cross Nationals where the greensome-twosome rounded out the podium behind an unstoppable Katie Compton (Rabobank).
Congratulations on a great US season to the entire team, and to the Kaitie and Nicole on their silver and bronze medals.
