The ‘Leadville 100’ is a 100-mile mountain bike race that takes place in Leadville, Colorado. The entire event is above 9,000 feet of elevation. It’s an out-and-back course that travels 50 miles out to the highest point, the Columbine Mine Aid Station perched at 12,600 feet. Much of the terrain is back country dirt roads along with some sections on paved road. Approximately 1,300 racers started the race at 5:45 am. They would have 12 hours to complete the event and earn an official time.
