Levi Leipheimer (Astana — SRAM) seized the yellow jersey of race leader at the Amgen Tour of California’s stage two Tuesday with an attack lead-out by teammate Yaraslov Popovych. With 17 miles left in the stage that started in Sausalito and finished in Santa Cruz, Leipheimer attacked up the Bonny Doon climb with only Tom Peterson (Garmin Slipstream) on his wheel, gaining enough time on Francisco Mancebo (Rock) to take the lead. Levi and his teammates, including Lance Armstrong, are riding SRAM RED equipped Trek Red-Series Carbon Madones.
