Schleck takes Liege on RED
|
Andy Schleck (Saxo Bank) made the perfect attack on the Côte de la Roche aux Faucons to take the victory at Sunday’s Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Schleck then bravely soloed to victory in the 95th edition of LBL. The 23-year-old from Luxemburg chased down and dropped Philippe Gilbert (Silence-Lotto) and then held off a chase of favorites to win this year's final spring classic. Spaniard Joaquím Rodriguez (Caisse d’Epargne) finished second at 1:12 and Davide Rebellin (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni) took third. SRAM RED was Schleck's componentry of choice after the entire his Saxo Bank team requested the switch less than one month ago. Schleck was one of the first to adopt and praise SRAM RED and brought the 22 year-old Chicago-based component manufacturer its first Classic win ever. Congratulations to Andy Schleck and the entire Saxo Bank team. Thanks to VeloNews.com for portions of this report.
