Teri Dryden’s unorthodox path to becoming an artist began with immersion in an art form in which she was the medium – performing as a clown in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. After years of acting, she found a more personally satisfying form of expression in mixed media art. Her use of and discarded books has given her a distinctive voice. The work is abstract yet familiar – even comforting – constructed as they are of common materials that resonate and evoke shared memories, stirring a déjà vu in our collective unconscious. Teri exhibits her work in Southern California; Louisville, Kentucky; and Jackson, Mississippi.
