Laura Evans grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts. Laura earned a BA from Hampshire College in Painting in 1974 and an MFA from Boston University in 1981. Her sculpture and installation work have been shown in New England, New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Seattle, and Miami. Her 2006 exhibition at the Boston Sculptors Gallery, “Seeing Red”, received a 2007 Best Show Award from AICA’s New England Chapter. Other awards include a Boston Cultural Council award in 1998, a finalist award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in 2000, and a public art commission from the City of Cambridge, MA in 2005. Her work is in the collections of Boston Medical Center, Boston Public Library, Fidelity Investments, Wellington Management Company, and Biogen Idec, among others. Written reviews of Laura’s work have appeared in Art in America, Art New England, The Boston Globe, and Sculpture. Laura exhibits with OK Harris works of Art in New York and has been a member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery since 2006.
