Moira Marti Geoffrion
Moira Marti Geoffrion received her BFA in painting from the Boston University School of Fine and Applied Art and her MFA in sculpture from the Department of Art & Design, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois. She has taught bronze casting, metal fabrication, woodworking, figure modeling and drawing, painting, and fibers. She was Art Department Head at the University of Arizona and continues to teach there.
Moira was represented by the Sonia Zaks Gallery in Chicago since 1979. She has also exhibited throughout the U.S.; in Switzerland; Bulgaria; Australia; West Africa; and St. Petersburg, Russia. Her 45 solo shows and 200 group exhibitions include venues such as Davis Dominguez Gallery; Tucson Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe; Chicago Navy Pier Show; Greater South Bend Museum of Art; The Snite Museum; SOHO 20 in New York; Lerner Heller Gallery, New York; Carson and Shapiro, Denver; Gallery 10-10, Leningrad; Museum of Modern Art, Sofia. Her works are in private collections in Europe, Australia, and throughout the USA.
Moira has been honored as a teacher and mentor, and has had NEA, IAC, ACA, TPAC, Mellon, Exxon, Fulbright, Stonewall Foundation grants and artist residencies in Bulgaria, Switzerland, and Australia. Her work has also been reviewed in Sculpture magazine and arts magazine.
