Steve Smith wins his first World Cup

Steve Smith (Devinci Global Racing) fulfilled his promise as one of the most talented riders in the world by clinching his first ever World Cup win in Hafjell, Norway, on Saturday September 15th. After a stellar season, which saw him on the podium several times and 3rd at the World Championships in Leogang, Stevie Smith finally struck one of his most coveted goals: a World Cup win. Qualifying first on Friday, Stevie went into the finals confident and ruled the Norwegian course, hosting a World Cup for the first time. Joining him on the podium are his team mates George Brannigan in second and Nick Beer in fifth.
With his victory in the World Cup final round Smith ends his season in the 4th place of overall ranking, followed by Sam Hill (Specialized Monster Energy) in 5th.
In the women’s overall, Emmeline Ragot (MS-Mondraker – SRAM X0 DH drivetrain) closes the season in second place, while Myriam Nicole (Commencal Riding Addiction – SRAM, RockShox, Avid and TRUVATIV) finishes her season in third despite missing finals due to an injury.
