When your team is the reigning UCI Team Time Trial World Champions bike mechanics do everything they can to make the team’s bikes as fast as possible. Barbara “Baby G” Guarischi’s Cervelo P5 is a perfect example of this. From stem to stern, this bike is built to fit her perfectly without adding to the bike’s coefficient of drag.

Running SRAM RED eTap, she has infinite possibilities for her Blip (remote shift button) setup. Each Velocio-SRAM bike is customized to best fit the rider’s hand position, and Baby G’s bike illustrates this well.

Team mechanic Sebastian Nittke achieved a beautifully clean installation using grip tape, rather than handlebar tape, for a setup that is so sanitary it’s nearly invisible. Nittke carefully feathered the edge of the grip tape by sanding it down along the trailing edge before applying it to the similarly textured handlebar for a perfect blend. On the aero extensions the transition to the edge of the blips is smoothed using black 100% silicone caulk.

Creative placement of the BlipBox (wireless sending unit connected to the Blips) keeps it tucked out of the wind using an adjustable K-Edge computer mount rotated 180-degrees aft and mounted upside down.

Relying on the TT gold standard for wheels, Baby G rides the Zipp Super-9/808 Firecrest combo wrapped with unlabeled 26mm wide clinchers.

Her cockpit consists of a 40cm wide Zipp Vuka Bull carbon base bar, Vuka Alumina clips and aero extensions. All of it is attached to the fork steerer via a Zipp Service Course SL 90mm stem with -17 degree rise.

The drivetrain is assembled using a 170mm SRAM RED/Quarq power meter with a TT specific aero 55/42t chainring setup connected to a SRAM RED chain driving a tight ratio PG-1170 11-25t cassette out back.

With a proper setup a TT bike can become more that the sum of its parts. Barbara and her mechanic have proven just that. They’ve taken the best components and fitted them expertly and cleanly so that when Baby G rolls down the start ramp, her bike will be the last thing on her mind.
