Congratulations to Switzerland’s Daniela Ryf on a record-setting day at the 2018 Ironman World Championship in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.

Ryf started off the day losing time because of a jellyfish sting. But that hardship brought on heroics. She smashed the bike course record by a stunning 18 minutes on her way to a new women’s course record at Kona, 8:26:18. On a day without the usual windy conditions on the Queen K, Ryf rode a Felt equipped with SRAM RED eTap.

Among official SRAM athletes turning in top 10 performances, three-time Kona champ Mirinda Carfrae finished with a strong run to place fifth. She’s back at Kona after missing last year after having a baby. Fellow Australian Sarah Crowley was sixth, and Kaisa Sali of Finland seventh.
