  • Work will likely involve developing mathematical models for designing structural regions of composite rims. This could include but is not limited to the following types of work:
  • oUse software to analyze stress and strain in rims under various static load conditions and identify relationships between that and static or dynamic lab and/or field test results
  • oConduct lab and/or field tests to allow us to develop relationships between those and modeled results
  • oDesign and build equipment for performing new lab or field tests
  • oProcess lab and field test data
  • oCreate user-friendly spreadsheets for entering dimensions and laminate properties of a given rim design that then calculates the maximum loading the rim can handle (examples: loading from tire pressure, spoke tension, etc)
  • Must be working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Must have statics and beam theory experience through classwork, personal study and projects, or past internships
