Queens of Time
CANYON//SRAM Racing rode a flawless race this past Sunday in Innsbruck, Austria and are the new UCI Team Time Trial Women World Champions. Alena Amialiusik (BLR), Alice and Hannah Barnes (UK), Elena Cecchini (IT), Lisa Klein (GER) and Trixi Worrack (GER) crossed the line all together, with an average speed just under 53km/hour.
SRAM’s sponsored Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team won the silver medal at the last Team Time Trial World Championships in the foreseeable future. The orange train was only 21 seconds short of the winning time by CANYON//SRAM Racing, who completed the 54.5-kilometre course in 1.01’46”. Last year’s world champions Team Sunweb took bronze.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary, Zipp designed an old school spin on the pro-proven Super-9 Carbon Clincher Disc wheels, which CANYON//SRAM Racing was using throughout the event and race. Many spectators and media wondered when looking at the beautiful colorful discs during the team time trial, how it came to this color combination.
The tribute of the fastest disc in the world, in combination with a newly crowned World Champion Team Time Trial title resembles another milestone from the speed weaponry out of Indianapolis.
