When the polvere settled in Northern Italy this past Sunday, the world’s new No. 1 rider came away with her first Giro d'Italia Internazionale Femminile title. American Megan Guarnier, who now tops the UCI Women’s rankings, won the 10-day stage race that is now a major stop on the women’s WorldTour.
The master tactician from New York (USA) rode brilliantly, taking time during critical stages, including the stage 7 time trial. Guarnier finished ahead of her teammate Evelyn Stevens and last year’s winner Anna van der Breggen (Rabo Liv), who finished third. Guarnier also won the Points Classification.
