Giant Factory Off-Road star Marcelo Gutierrez Villegas proved unstoppable on Tuesday, collecting his third Garbanzo DH victory in a row. The hard-charging Colombian, whose five-year record in the Garbanzo is two 2nds and three 1sts, opted to tackle the longest DH race of the week with a shorter-travel SRAM XX1, ROAM wheels, Guide Ultimate and RockShox suspension equipped Giant Reign instead of his normal downhill race bike. Canada’s own Steve Smith returned to the top of the podium in the Air DH after missing last year’s event because of an injury. Like many of the top contenders, the Devinci Global Racing team rider opted for a SRAM XX1, Guide Ultimate and RockShox suspension equipped enduro bike to attack Whistler’s world-famous A-Line race. Smith, the 2013 UCI World Cup Champion, set a blistering pace when he hit the course on Wednesday afternoon, crossing the line in 4:07 to collect his second Air DH victory.

Andreu Lacondeguy out-styled the rest of the competitors on Thursday, taking the title — and belt — of Whip-Off World Champion. The jam-style contest held on Whistler Bike Park’s Crabapple Hits is a crowd favorite and Lacondeguy did not disappoint. With just seconds remaining on the clock, the 2014 Red Bull Rampage winner threw the day’s biggest and most stylish whip on his SRAM X01 DH, SRAM Code and RockShox suspension equipped YT to take home the big check. - Photo by Adrian Marcoux

It has been a rough couple of weeks for Anneke Beerten, who has been chasing the Queen of Crankworx title, racing the Canadian Open Enduro, Garbanzo DH, Air DH and Whip-Off Worlds with stitches, scrapes and bruises. On Thursday night, though, the Team Specialized Racing enduro specialist wrapped up the Pump Track Championship in the Crankworx World Tour with an impressive 2nd place finish on her SRAM XX1, Guide Ultimate and RockShox suspension equipped Specialized hardtail at the Ultimate Pump Track Challenge Presented by RockShox. - Photo by Adrian Marcoux
