Gutierrez, Hart and Fearon complete the all SRAM | RockShox | Avid | TRUVATIV podium sweep in the Canadian Open DH to conclude a triumphant week at Crankworx, Whistler.

It would turn out to be a fairy tale week of racing for Marcelo Gutierrez from the Giant Factory Off-Road Team. After taking a back-to-back win in the Garbanzo Downhill to open the week of action packed events in Crankworx Whistler, he would retain his steadfast focus and determination to close the week in continued winning fashion, claiming victory in the Canadian Open Downhill just ahead of teammate Danny Hart. - Photo by Sven Martin

On a course that many dare even attempt to ride in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, with a mix of steep rock faces, relentless wheel-grabbing root sections combined with tight technical trees, the infamous Canadian Open DH course is a true Downhill race for the World’s elite. Under sunny blue sky’s the crowds poured in and lined the hillside anxiously awaiting racers to hit the mountain. Connor Fearon (Kona) would set a commanding tone taking the lead as the fastest riders took to the course. Former Downhill World Champion, Danny Hart (Giant Factory Off-Road Race Team) would eventually come down just hundredths of a second ahead of Fearon seeming to have an unbeatable time on the now deteriorating course. - Photo by Sven Martin

As the last rider on the mountain with a chance to best Hart’s time, Gutierrez looking calm and collected would blast his way through the tight trees, relentless roots and rock gardens flying into the finish corral crossing the line almost half of a second ahead of Hart to take the final win of the weekend. Gutierrez, Hart and Fearon would complete a full podium sweep using SRAM X01 DH, RockShox BoXXer WC, RockShox Vivid R2C, Avid Code brakes with TRUVATIV Bar and Stem. - Photo by Adrian Marcoux

Having placed the highest in all of the events he entered, walking away with two victories, one in the Garbanzo Downhill and the final win in the Canadian Open Downhill, Marcelo Gutierrez would officially make his mark taking a well deserved seat in the throne as the 2014 King of Crankworx. - Photo by Sven Martin
