Crankworx Les 2 Alpes, SRAM SUCCESS!
First European edition of Crankworx MTB Freeride Festival ends with victories from Zink, Semenuk and Clementz
The inaugural edition of the Crankworx Les 2 Alpes festival went off the week of July 9th to 15th in France, with great outcomes for SRAM as a main sponsor of the event and for its athletes competing throughout the week.
ZINK RULES SRAM DUAL SPEED AND STYLE
Cameron Zink, a previous Crankworx Slopestyle and Red Bull Rampage winner, took the win in the SRAM Dual Speed and Style, an exciting mix of Dual Slalom and Slopestyle. Tricking the two massive jumps on the course resulted in bonus seconds off each run’s time. Zink edged his opponent in the final with huge tricks and his signature, powerful style.
THE DELICATE GENIUS CONQUERS EUROPE
Fresh off his victory at the Chatel Mountain Style the week before, Brandon Semenuk tackled the technical and fast slopestyle course in Les 2 Alpes with his signature arsenal of insane trick combos and effortless style. He was also awarded best trick with a massive backflip over the intimidating road gap. SRAM athletes Martin Soderstorm and Yannick Granieri complete the podium in 3rd and 4th.
NUMBER 1 IS ADDICTIVE: JÉRÔME CLEMENTZ WINS MOUNTAIN OF HELL
Jérôme Clementz won the Mountain of Hell mass-start downhill, the final event of Crankworx Les 2 Alpes aboard the new SRAM XX1 mountain group. The Mountain of Hell is a 20km race that starts atop a glacier at 3,400m. The course works its way down icy slopes cutting through the high alpine terrain, huge boulder fields, and tight singletrack until the finish at 700m. It is an incredibly tough and demanding course for both riders and their bikes. Jerome controlled the race well and consolidated his leadership step by step, finishing just ahead of fellow SRAM athlete René Wildhaber.
