Nino Schurter Sprints to Victory in Mont Sainte Anne

Nino Schurter (Scott Swisspower) held off a fast charging Jose Hermida (Multivan Merida) to win the men’s elite cross country World Cup in Mont Sainte Anne, Canada this past Saturday. A flat tire on the second to last lap cost Schurter the lead to the solo Hermida who put his technical skills to use when the rain began to fall. However, the focused and ambitious Schurter was able to power back from the sidelines just in time for one final gold medal effort. Jaroslav Kulhavy (Specialized) and Max Plaxton (Specialized) raced to 3rd and 5th place.

Nino Schurter leads the World Cup series overall. There are two World Cup cross country races left before the World Championships. Cross country racing resumes next weekend in Windham, NY, USA. (Photos: Victor Lucas).
