Dankha was born in Syria, where he earned a fine arts degree from Damascus University and taught for more than 20 years at a variety of schools and colleges, including the University of Syria, before moving to Chicago, where he now lives. A member of the Union of Syrian Plastic Artists, the International Sculpture Center, and the International Association of Monumental Sculptures Events, he has shown his work in more than 22 solo and joint exhibitions in the Middle East, United States, Canada, and Europe. Dankha’s work is in the collections of the Governorate of Damascus, the National Museum (New Art Gallery in Damascus), and the Ministry of Culture in Syria, as well as in those of private collectors and galleries in Syria and other countries. His new research on sculpture is being followed by fellow plastic art researchers and students of fine art faculties inside and outside of Syria.
