A lifelong passion for the visual arts has inspired Elyse Harrison to produce her narrative, often surrealistic paintings; initiate Studio Neptune’s highly successful fine art education program in 1990; and launch one of Bethesda, Maryland’s leading contemporary art galleries, Gallery Neptune, from 2003-2010. Neptune relocated in the fall of 2008 to the brand-new LEED-certified Peripoint building, located in the hub of downtown Bethesda and is currently operating full time as a teaching studio. Elyse has served on the board of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Maryland and is a member of Bethesda’s Arts and Entertainment advisory board and the advisory board for Arts on the Block. She has created more than 15 murals for public schools through the Maryland State Arts Council’s Artists in Education Program, and has been invited to speak at and jury art exhibits and award competitions in the Washington, D.C. area. She has been the recipient of numerous grants including a 2012 award for development of her first art-inspired book for children. Elyse’s art has been collected regionally for the past 30 years.
