Jaroslov Kulhavy takes SRAM Guide Ultimate and RockShox RS-1 to their first ever Cross Country World Cup victory.
With great anticipation the opening round of the UCI Cross Country World Cup hit the energetic town of Nove Mesto, Czech Republic like a ton of bricks. Hometown favorite was none other then one of the biggest names on the Cross Country world stage, Jaroslov Kulhavy (Specialized Racing). Having recently won the Cape Epic and Marathon European Championships earlier this year, Jaroslov arrived motivated and ready for the 2015 opening round. - Photo by Victor Lucas
Reigning World Cup Champion Nino Schurter (Scott- Odlo Racing Team) is always a contender for the win on any given weekend. Known to excel on technical courses, the challenging terrain and wet weather in Nove Mesto would prove beneficial for his initial assault at another World Cup Overall win. The exciting back and forth battle between him and Kulhavy would end with a final push from Kulhavy that Schurter could not match. Despite having the lead numerous times throughout the race he would inevitably have to settle for second place behind the big man from Czech. - Photo by Victor Lucas
With nearly 15,000 spectators cheering the hometown hero on, Kulhavy would showcase some of the most exciting racing seen in ages taking a well deserved win just meters ahead of Shurter.SRAM XX1 drivetrains and brakes power both Kulhavy and Shurter as their weapon of choice, with Kulhavy also on board RockShox suspension. This would mark the first ever Cross Country World Cup victory for SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes and RockShox RS-1. - Photo by Victor Lucas
Both Schurter and Kulhavy are the only two previous winners in the past four years since the first Cross Country World Cup held in Nove Mesto. Needless to say, Kulhavy was ecstatic about getting another win in his homeland after Schurters past three consecutive victories.
