Andi Boecherer of Germany comes into Kona as a serious podium threat at the Ironman® World Championship. He proved that in July with a strong second place at the Ironman® European Championships in Frankfurt, where he finished with a time of 7:53:40 – less than a minute behind champion Sebastian Kienle.

If you ask Boecherer about his bike for Saturday’s race, he quickly ticks off what he likes about his SRAM RED® eTap® and Zipp® NSW®-equipped machine. With the SRAM RED eTap Clics® extension shifters, it’s effortless to change gears. With eTap being wireless, it’s easier than ever to travel with the bike with no shifter cables to worry about. “It’s pretty light and stiff,” he added. “I like hilly courses, so the question of weight is also important.”
