ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY AND RECYCLING
Environment
Our environmental management activities are guided by our Environmental Policy: SRAM is committed to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution, including meeting all legal requirements. We maintain an environmental management system to reduce risk associated with noncompliance by meeting legal, customer, and stakeholder requirements related to the environment. We will continuously improve our system to adapt to rapidly changing legal and market requirements.
RoHS
SRAM ensures compliance with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, which bans new electrical and electronic equipment from containing more than permissible levels of hazardous substances.
REACH
SRAM is committed to the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation to improve the protection of human health and the environment from risks that can be posed by chemicals. SRAM goes to great lengths to remove harmful substances from our product designs.
Recycling
Many SRAM products are recyclable or contain recyclable materials. Recycle or dispose of these products or parts in accordance to local, state, and federal regulations. Do not dispose with normal domestic waste. By recycling these products correctly, you will help conserve natural resources and prevent potential negative environmental consequences.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
SRAM is committed to the protection of human health and the environmentally friendly recovery and disposal of electronic waste. SRAM ensures compliance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive for all our products.
Batteries
For consumers in the United States and Canada, SRAM has partnered with Call2Recycle®. Please call 1-800-8-BATTERY or visit www.call2recycle.org for additional information. For other locations, recycle or dispose in accordance to local, state, and federal regulations.
Do not dispose with normal domestic waste. Never dispose of batteries in a fire.
Hydraulic Brake Fluid
Used hydraulic brake fluid (DOT or Mineral Oil) must be recycled or disposed of in accordance to local, state, and federal regulations. Never pour used hydraulic brake fluid down a sewage or drainage system or into the ground or body of water.
Reverb and Suspension Fluids
Used Reverb and suspension fluids must be recycled or disposed of in accordance to local, state, and federal regulations. Never pour used Reverb or suspension fluids down a sewage or drainage system or into the ground or body of water.
Power Meter Recycling Program
SRAM is now offering a 10% discount to anyone who recycles their retired power meter. SRAM will accept all SRAM, Quarq, and PowerTap power meters, along with any other brands featuring aluminum crank arms or an aluminum spider.
