How To Navigate With Ease

Your Hammerhead Karoo is equipped with cycling-specific routing and resources designed to help you never miss a turn. From creating and organizing routes in the Dashboard, to instantly navigating to pins, or even sharing your location with loved ones during a ride, your Karoo can do it all with ease. We’re here to help you take full advantage of Karoo’s best-in-class routing.

CREATING ROUTES

Whether you want to drop a pin on your Karoo or create a detailed route on the dashboard, you can confidently rely on Hammerhead’s routing to get you exactly where you need to go. Select your preferred method of route creation to get started:

Tech Tip: When traveling with your Karoo, be sure to download offline maps for that region before you begin riding there. You’ll automatically be prompted to do so when you power on your Karoo somewhere new. Once an offline map is downloaded, any routes in that region will be ready to use on your device.

SYNCING ROUTES

For routes created on third-party sites like Strava, RideWithGPS, or Komoot, you can easily sync them to your Karoo once your accounts are all connected in your Hammerhead Dashboard. For example, “star” a route on Strava to send it directly to your dashboard for use on your Karoo.

READING AND USING MAPS

Your Karoo’s map screen offers several in-ride controls that allow you to customize your navigation experience. During a ride, you’ll find the following icons visible on your map screen to perform various actions:

Data fields: If you’ve designed your map page to include data fields, you’ll see an icon to toggle the data fields on or off with a single tap.
Lock: When you tap the lock icon, you’ll unlock the map from your GPS location so you can move the map as needed. Tapping also automatically hides your data fields to view the surrounding areas on the map. Locking the map will bring the data fields back to the map page.
Arrow: Tap the arrow icon to center the map on your GPS location.
Compass: Need to switch the orientation of the map to a North-facing view? Simply tap the compass icon.
Magnifying glass: On the bottom left of the screen, zoom into your map by tapping the magnifying glass icon. You can also use the physical buttons on your Karoo to zoom in and out as needed.
