Pairing is painless

Whether you’re the proud new owner of an AXS-equipped bike, or you just added a new AXS component to your rig, we’re here to help you pair your system together.

alt

What is pairing?

Pairing introduces your AXS-enabled components to each other with a wireless handshake, so they form a secure and seamless group. This process allows your wireless, electronic components to communicate with one another to execute commands, like pressing the controller to shift the derailleur and change gears.

Pairing a complete AXS system takes just seconds, and is done using the physical components, not in the AXS app. Each system has a primary component—this is the hub of communication that sends and receives signals. You'll always start and end your pairing session with the primary component. Other components join the system as secondary components.

How do I pair multiple different AXS components together?

If you're using multiple AXS components on a single bike, you'll want to connect everything into a single system, starting and finishing with the primary component. While each system has a primary component, there is a hierarchy when pairing multiple systems together into a single system—only one component can be the primary, and all other "primary" components become "secondary" to the primary.

When do I need to perform the pairing process?

Any time a new component is added, removed, or inadvertently left out during pairing, the whole pairing process—including all components—needs to be repeated.

Let’s get your system connected and ready to ride.

  1. To initiate pairing, press and hold the AXS button on your primary component until the LED blinks green slowly, then release.
  2. Pairing can be done in any order (except Pod controllers—check out the videos below for instructions). Press and hold the AXS button on the next AXS component until the LED blinks green quickly, then release. Repeat on all AXS components.
  3. To end the pairing session, press and release the AXS button on the primary component, or wait 30 seconds for the session to time out.
