Overview


Located close enough to the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway to hear the buzz of race cars, SRAM’s Indy location, home to Zipp, passionately pursues speed and innovation. The 80,000 square foot facility is home to manufacturing for Zipp wheels as well as critical office functions for SRAM and all of its brands. In this role, you will develop manufacturing processes, specify equipment for new products, and provide existing product support. The Manufacturing Engineer works with Design and Production groups to improve production efficiency and achieve shared objectives through manufacturing improvement projects, and ensuring products meet all internal and customer specifications.

Responsibilities


  • Work side by side with design and quality engineers to develop new products
  • Ensure that all SRAM Lean Product Development requirements for manufacturing are satisfied
  • Use lean principles to develop and qualify new manufacturing processes and improve existing processes
  • Build or Specify and implement manufacturing equipment
  • Develop PFMEA’s, process specifications, standard work and work instructions
  • Coordinate pilot runs to capture and analyze results
  • Work closely with production, procurement, planning and other functions to execute daily tasks
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or similar field required
  • 2+ years manufacturing engineering experience required
  • 2+ years CAD experience required; Creo or SolidWorks preferred
  • Carbon Fiber Composites experience required
  • Demonstrated success in developing, improving, and qualifying lean manufacturing processes within carbon composites industry preferred
  • Ability to build and specify production equipment
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of lean principles required
  • You must be:
  • Physically be able to do all steps within the wheel manufacturing process in order to be able to understand the best processes needed for their creation.
  • Continuously stand or walk for at least 80% of the workday
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, to bend, squat, climb stairs, lift frequently, and reach 40 inches
  • Available to work alternate shifts, if needed.
  • Available for travel as needed, estimated up to 10% of time
