Service

Eagle Transmission lets you shift flawlessly under load, offers a new standard of durability, and has a radically simplified setup and installation procedure.

Perhaps the biggest beneficiaries are e-MTB riders. The technology offers exceptional shifting even under the heaviest loads, which is essential when you consider the amount of power being put through the chain during maximum power e-MTB rides.

Given the enormous benefits of the SRAM Eagle Transmission for e-MTB riders, it's no wonder that many are wondering whether this technology is compatible with their own bikes. We're here to help answer that question and provide all the information you need to make an informed decision about upgrading your e-MTB to SRAM Eagle Transmission.

1. It starts with UDH

To ensure compatibility for your e-MTB with SRAM Eagle Transmission, it is essential to confirm that your bike is equipped with SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH). The UDH is a standardized derailleur hanger that has been widely adopted by frame manufacturers, with hundreds of models already featuring it. The frame design required to use the UDH is the called the Hangerless Interface, which allows Eagle Transmission to work around the one universal constant – the center of the rear axle.

Please refer to the Eagle Transmission Chain and Setup Key Guide to confirm if your bike is verified Eagle Transmission-ready by SRAM. If your bike is present in the guide, it is ready to be upgraded. If your bike is not available in the Chain and Setup Key Guide, please contact your bike manufacturer directly for more information on compatibility.

2. Groupsets

SRAM Eagle Transmission is offered in both MTB and e-MTB specific groupsets, which provide all the necessary components for your bike. In the groupset box you will receive a derailleur, chain, cassette, controller, battery, charger chainring, and depending on the groupset: a crankset.

e-MTB specific groupsets are offered in both XX Eagle Transmission, X0 Eagle and GX Eagle Transmission. SRAM does not offer an XX SL Eagle Transmission e-MTB groupset as the XX SL Flattop Chain and XX SL Eagle Transmission Cassette are not approved for use with e-MTB systems.

XX

XX Eagle Transmission is where imagination, innovation and unprecedented performance meet. The drivetrain of dreams, XX Eagle Transmission has been designed and engineered into tangible technology for the world’s most demanding. For e-MTB SRAM XX Eagle Transmission is the top tier groupset that is offered.

X0

X0 Eagle Transmission is for put-up or shut-up riders who don’t have time to wonder about their componentry. The level of full legitimacy, X0 Eagle Transmission gives confidence to the most serious riders in every discipline. Light, tough, reliable and precise, X0 Eagle Transmission is built to help you prove your mettle.

GX

The drivetrain embraced by core riders as the All-Day best friend is now available in Transmission with full e-MTB compatibility. The no-compromise, budget-minded ethos remains built into the system but is modernized for a new generation of e-MTB.

3. Driveunit options

When it comes to e-MTBs, drive unit motors play a crucial role, and each motor has its own specific requirements for crank compatibility. To simplify the process for riders, SRAM has developed e-MTB specific groupsets tailored to various drive units available in the market.

Let's explore the range of mounting kits offered by SRAM for their Eagle Transmission. These groupsets are designed to seamlessly fit specific drive units, ensuring a perfect match for your e-bike or e-MTB.

SRAM Powered By Brose & Brose

The SRAM Eagle Transmission e-MTB variant for Brose drive units offers a comprehensive solution tailored specifically for Brose & SRAM Powered by Brose e-MTB systems. This groupset offers compatibility with various e-MTB systems, allowing you to easily upgrade to Eagle Transmission with everything required.

The BROSE groupset is not compatible with the Specialized Gen 3 Levo. Due to an offset motor design, using the BROSE groupset on the Gen 3 Levo will give you an asymmetric crankarm setup and a chainline that is far too wide for Eagle Transmission. For this bike model, the required option is the 104bcd groupset kit, which provides a suitable mounting solution for the SRAM Eagle Transmission.

What's included in the kit:

  • Brose specific crank assembly
    • XX kit includes 165mm crank arms
    • X0 and GX kit includes 160mm crankarms
    • 34T chainring, including clip-on guard.
  • Eagle Transmission derailleur
  • 10-52T Eagle Transmission cassette
  • Transmission Flattop chain
  • AXS Pod controller with Infinity Clamp
  • AXS battery/charger

Some key models include:

  • Bulls E-Stream EVO AM 6
  • 2023+ GasGas ECC
  • 2023+ Nukeproof Megawatt
