A spectacular win for Amaury Pierron in Lenzerheide pushes the Elite DH World Cup Overall title to the wire while Vali Höll and Thibault Daprela wrap up Junior Overall titles with only one stop left in the series.
Amaury Pierron (Commencal-Vallnord DH Team) charged closer to the Elite Mens Overall title after a wild, wide open run over the roots and rocks of Lenzerheide. His third win of the season didn’t come easy though.
I had two big crashes in practice, I felt so bad. But this afternoon was so good. Conditions were perfect, I enjoyed it so much, I pushed so hard, I’m so stoked!
Vali Höll (SRAM TLD Racing) also had a sensational run in Switzerland to take the Women’s Junior DH World Cup Overall title. She erased her disappointment from Italy last weekend with a crushing 29 second win on the steep and technical course.
I’m super stoked to get my 2nd World Cup Overall title today. I just wanted to ride like I used to, not like in Val De Sole and it worked out.
Anna Newkirk (SRAM Canyon Young Guns) took 3rd on the day to confirm 2nd in the overall despite a serious crash.
I smashed my head into some rocks mid race run and got my lights knocked out for a split second. I probably shouldn’t do that next time.
Thibault Daprela had to fight to wrap up Junior Men’s Overall honours. After qualifying fastest, the Commencal-Vallnord DH Team rider punctured on his race run and had to battle hard to get 16th place over the line. 4 wins already this season mean he still give him the series win ahead of fellow SRAM athlete Kye A’Hern (Canyon Factory DH Team) with one round left.
Amaury, Vali and Thibault rode SRAM X01 DH, SRAM Code Brakes, RockShox BoXXer Ultimate and RockShox Super Deluxe with MegNeg air can suspension
SRAM & RockShox athletes are set for a fittingly brilliant end to one of the most breathtaking seasons in DH history. The brand new Snowshoe course in the US on 7th September and the World Championships in Mont St Anne, Canada on 28th August will undoubtedly deliver more thrilling racing.
