Jan Frodeno Rolls into Kona on an Exotically Fast (and Wireless-Shifting) Machine

Having recently captured the Ironman® 70.3® World Championships in spectacular fashion, Jan Frodeno of Germany is riding a wave of momentum coming into Saturday's Ironman® World Championships in Kona. Jan, as he did at 70.3® Worlds, will be aboard the new SRAM RED eTap groupset. He's also riding Zipp's new 808 NSW Carbon Clinchers front and rear, Zipp Vuka Race extensions and using Quarq power measurement. Our friends at BrakeThrough Media take you through his incredible new Canyon aero bike.

From the Olympics® to 70.3®, Jan Frodeno is a proven champion whose eyes are now set on Kona.

This is aero-bike setup built for speed. Jan's bike features a 55-tooth SRAM Aero Chainring paired with a 42 inner ring and an 11-25 cassette. His drivetrain is built around the SRAM RED eTap® rear derailleur and the SRAM RED eTap front derailleur with Yaw technology for fast and intuitive wireless shifting. With RED eTap Blips, riders are able to shift from the ends of their extensions or by remote eTap Blip shifters placed on the handlebars near the brake levers. This is an advantage that allows the rider to shift while on the bars climbing or while coming out of turns.

The SRAM RED eTap shifter optimizes Yaw adjustments as needed throughout the shift range automatically.

Jan is running Zipp Vuka Race carbon extensions, which were designed using data compiled from thousands of fit sessions. The Vuka Race bend places the wrists at a more natural bend to help riders remain in their aero tuck.

For hydration and security of his bottle, the Zipp Vuka Alumina cage.

Jan rode the front Zipp 808 NSW Carbon Clincher wheelset, then pre-release, at the Ironman® 70.3® World Championships paired with a Zipp Super-9 Disc Carbon Clincher. For Kona, he'll now also run the rear 808 NSW on the famous non-disc course on the Queen K.
