La Vita in Rosa
Rigoberto Urán (Omega Pharma – Quick Step Pro Cycling), on his Specialized SRAM RED 22 speed machine, won the Individual Time Trial (stage #12) to take ownership of the Giro d’Italia’s pink Jersey.
The Colombian rode the 41.9km between Barbaresco - Barolo in 57min 34sec (43.9km/h), 1min17sec faster than Diego Ulissi (ITA- Lampre-Merida) and 1min34sec over Cadel Evans (AUS - BMC Racing Team). The difference allowed him to take the general classification lead by 37 seconds.
Urán, together with his teammates, will focus on holding the Maglia Rosa until Cima Grappa, which is the final stage of this year’s Giro. This last stage is also an ITT (26.8km). But this time, there won’t be any flat sections. The Monte Grappa with challenge even the best climber in the World.
