Cécile Ravanel and Isabeau Courdurier ride SRAM Eagle™ for first and second in the SRAM Canadian Open Enduro at Crankworx Whistler

Commencal Vallnord Enduro Team rider Cécile Ravanel seems to have her name permanently engraved on the top step of the Enduro World Series podium, having taken wins in five of six events so far this year. Her victory at Crankworx, however, was anything but a foregone conclusion, as she lost time on the day’s first two stages. But Ravanel fought back, and stormed on to win the final three stages and the overall.

The Canadian Open Enduro champ’s Commencal is equipped with the complete SRAM X01 Eagle™ drivetrain, Guide Ultimate brakes, a Rockshox Lyrik fork and RockShox BlackBox Super Deluxe shock. This is the second win for Ravanel using the Eagle™ drivetrain, which, for her, is the best and only choice.

“Eagle, it was the best choice today, because the transitions were really steep and hard,” said Ravanel. “And after, in the stages, there were many pedaling parts — flat or down — and you need a really big chainring. I’m happy to have this choice — this group.”

Isabeau Courdurier rode her SRAM X01 Eagle™, Guide Ultimate, RockShox Lyrik and Monarch Plus DebonAir-equipped SUNN to the second spot on the podium. Like Cécile, Isabeau was happy to ride Eagle™ on the notoriously tough Whistler EWS course.

“Oh, Eagle was really good for today because of the transfer section…it was really steep,” said Courdurier. “So with Eagle, you can pedal everywhere, so you can save your legs. Because, when you walk, you get so tired, because it’s muscle we aren’t used to — used to using.”

Their podium positions at Crankworx also solidify Cécile’s and Isabeau’s first and second place spots in the Enduro World Series overall standings, as the series now heads back across the Atlantic Ocean for the final rounds at Valberg-Guillaumes, France, and Finale Ligure, Italy.
