The Road is Turning to Disc
Welcome to our latest SRAMcast. In this episode we'll explore hydraulic disc brake technology and how its evolution, and recent introduction to road, have impacted riders, their bikes, and racing. The controversy around the advantages and safety of disc brakes has subsided and, with experience, professional and amateur riders are figuring out what mountain bikers have known for years: hydraulic disc brakes are a serious upgrade in speed management.
We start with our expert, SRAM Brake Category Manager Paul Kantor, who talks specifically about the advantages that disc brakes can provide, and also addresses some of the concerns. We follow that up with CANYON//SRAM Professional Cycling racing professionals Alexis Ryan and Alena Amialiusik, as well as Katusha-Alpecin’s Michael Morkov and Alexander Kristoff.
