SRAM aims to champion gender diversity throughout our organization. We are working to increase professional growth resources for women at SRAM, and we hope to inspire more women to check out the job postings and apply online to join our SRAM family. Ever since her first set of power tools as a kid, Rachel has had the knack for all things mechanical. She’s responsible for the engineering behind the brake/shift levers on the RED® eTap® wireless drivetrain. As a design engineer for SRAM, she works with a global team to conceptualize, design, and then produce our innovative cycling products. Her engineering talents are matched only by a passion for bicycles, highlighting their environmental sustainability and cool mechanical systems.
“We get to do so much as engineers at SRAM. We get to do our own computer modeling, stress analysis, prototyping, ride testing—the list goes on. I don’t just sit at a computer for 8 hours a day. I’m back and forth from my desk to my workbench or the test lab.”
Keeping a balance between work and family life is one of the key aspects Rachel enjoys at SRAM. In addition to her role as a 3D graphic artist, Rachel is a force in creating fellowship among colleagues. She serves as one of the key leads for SRAM Women’s Leadership Committee, a group within SRAM aimed at fostering gender diversity as a means for a stronger, better workforce.
“Creating a sense of community keeps me excited about the work I do. SRAM culture puts value in being healthy, having family. I have ample time to get through my projects while still being able to take care of my family.”
Ruth-Anne knows the power of storytelling. As the Director of Global Marketing for World Bicycle Relief (WBR), her role is to mobilize students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs in developing countries by connecting them to a global community of supporters. The result of her team’s 2017 July Fundraising Campaign? 4,500 Zambian students will receive WBR Buffalo Bicycles this fall. Ruth-Anne’s vision is a world where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare and livelihood.
“For me, the bicycle is a tool for social and economic empowerment. I love that with a Buffalo Bicycle, a young girl can get to school safely, ready to learn and create a brighter future for herself, her family and her community.”
Eloquence can extend beyond words. For a Senior Graphic Designer like Amy, conveying the SRAM brand identity takes the form of a visual language in textures, lines and colors. Like any true artist, Amy’s ideas are more bountiful than time. Her background in illustration and sketch art is helpful for working quickly through rough concepts until the right one jumps out of the page. If you’ve been to any major cycling events recently, you may have spotted some of Amy’s handiwork in an intricate toile pattern emblazoned on all things SRAM—hats, shirts, totes, jerseys and more.
