KNOW YOUR KNOBS

With the introduction of the Charger 3 damper came a new logic for adjusting your dials. The goal: to make it as easy as possible to see where in your adjustment range your dials are set.

Your damper has two knobs on top: the High Speed Compression (HSC) knob is the larger of the two, while the smaller Low Speed Compression (LSC) knob is stacked on top of the HSC knob. Two etched marks indicate their adjustment position within their range: the HSC indicator line is on the damper top cap, and the LSC's is on the HSC adjuster knob.

START WITH THE MARKS

The new Charger 3.2 damper knobs look similar to its predecessor Charger 3 (and 3.1)—and the tuning logic is much the same—but we made it even easier to see exactly where you are in your adjustment range.

For initial setup or anytime you need a setting reset, we recommend starting with Low Speed Compression (LSC) and High Speed Compression (HSC) set in the middle at "0" for a balanced feel. With a fresh take on suspension design, we wanted riders to be able to add or remove damping as needed, rather than automatically opting for the least damping possible.

HSC has five clicks of adjustment, and LSC has 15 clicks of adjustment. The numbers and accompanying lines indicate where in the adjustment range your settings are, based on the etched indicator marks. For example:

  • -2 HSC and -7 LSC indicates the least amount of damper force / support (fully open), shown by the thinnest lines.
  • +2 HSC and +7 LSC indicates the most amount of damper force / support (fully closed), shown by the thickest lines

Add damping by rotating the knob clockwise so the positive numbers move toward the indicator line. Reduce damping by rotating the knob counter-clockwise to move the negative numbers toward the indicator line.

When adjusting the HSC knob, you'll notice that the LSC adjuster rotates as well. This will not adjust LSC—Low Speed Compression is only changed when the LSC knob is deliberately turned.

Charger 3 introduced a new way to read and understand your Compression adjustment knobs. At its core, the dials adjust the same: rotate the knobs clockwise to add damping, counterclockwise to remove. However, the logic behind the knobs and their clocking is different than past dampers.

HSC has five clicks of adjustment, and LSC has 15 clicks of adjustment. Two etched indicator marks show where your settings are within the adjustment range.

The +/- on the HSC and LSC knobs signify the ends of the adjustment range in reference to the white etched indicator line, not the direction to turn to increase or decrease damping.

  • The “+” on each knob indicates the maximum end of the damping range for the most damping resistance.
  • The “–” is the minimum end of the damping range for the least damping resistance.

Add more damping by rotating the knob clockwise, moving the “+” sign toward the indicator line. The same logic applies to the “–” sign: reduce damping by rotating the knob counter-clockwise, moving the “–” sign toward the indicator line.
