Feel faster

Ochain brings unprecedented clarity to how our bike feels through the near elimination of pedal feedback and drivetrain noise. Transforming our descending experience, delivering sensitivity and stability we didn’t know was possible. Effective with any suspension design or amount of travel, Ochain lets the chain do its job when we need it, and disappear when we don’t. For a feeling we never thought possible.

Here to help
every rider only
feel what matters.

By mounting on the crankset, between the crank arms and chainring, the Ochain spider damper allows controlled backward rotation of the chainring under load, decoupling the rider from pedal feedback forces. Available in multiple models and mounting standards, including Ochain R and Ochain N for mountain bikes, and Ochain S and Ochain E for E MTB applications.

Mutes distraction

Ochain measurably reduces pedal feedback and chain turbulence to enhance perception and amplify focus. Its ability to “quiet the chaos” we didn’t even know was happening is soothing and surprising. It’s as though our feet come alive, able to better connect with the bike, to truly feel what’s going on. Like never before.

Boosts confidence and control

By allowing the chainring to rotate backward, Ochain decouples the rider from all three forces of pedal feedback. A simple, spider-based solution that greatly enhances suspension feel, stability in rough terrain, and traction while braking and cornering. For more confidence, more control, and less fatigue.

Tunes with ease

With a simple turn of a dial on Ochain R or S, or a travel chip swap on Ochain N or E, every Ochain model can be tuned for different terrain types, ride styles and bike designs. Designed for the full range of trails and machines, from short travel and highly versatile, to DH-specific and free ride. Because all riders deserve this feeling.

Facts. Not speculation.

There’s a lot of buzz around pedal kickback, hub-based solutions, and suspension layouts that are billed as either susceptible or immune. Some say the answer to whatever might be causing pedal feedback is a high-pivot design with an idler pulley. Some say it only matters if you’re racing downhill. Others say it’s all a hoax. Fact is, we put Ochain through years of rigorous testing to understand the science. Not the hype.

Eliminating pedal kickback. Whether it happens or not.

Studies prove that when the bike is moving faster than a walking pace, forward wheel rotation compensates to negate what’s known as “pedal kickback.” So even though pedal kickback rarely happens on the trail, Ochain still eliminates it.

Cassette backwards slap

A significant source of pedal feedback, Cassette Backwards Slap occurs on all mountain bikes when the chain bounces. This causes the cassette to roll forward, then “slap” backwards, which tugs the chain and crankset with perceivable force at the rider’s feet. This high-frequency event is no small disturbance, but by rotating backwards, Ochain controls this feedback, letting riders better feel their suspension and trail without distraction.

Rear wheel lockup

To counter our weight naturally shifting forward under the decelerating forces of braking, every rider unintentionally presses against the pedals. While totally normal for all bike types and rider levels, when combined with what the rear wheel is doing under braking, it exposes a stark reality. Data and slow motion footage shows that as the wheel comes off the ground under braking, it locks up for an instant, and so does the cassette. This momentary lock up transfers directly through the chain to the crankset, creating firmness under the rider’s downward pedal pressure—producing pedal feedback. As the wheel contacts the ground again, it releases. With Ochain, all these forces from rear-wheel lockup are drastically reduced, allowing riders to feel a lot more stable. Which leads to a lot more confidence.

A feeling the fastest won't ride without

Even if it creates tension with sponsors, even if they have to pay for it themselves, many of the fastest World Cup pros today won’t ride without Ochain. Look at their bikes, and you’ll see. Ochain equipped bikes won the 2025 women’s and men’s elite DH World Championships, as well as both World Cup overall titles.

Feels right on every full-suspension bike

Ochain is for every full-suspension bike, not just downhill-specific rigs. On mid and short travel trail bikes in particular, where suspension travel is less and gear ranges are wider, riders often feel more of what’s happening at the pedals, and that’s where Ochain makes a meaningful difference. And while popular high-pivot & idler designs solve for kickback, they do nothing to mitigate cassette backwards slap or rear wheel lockup. Ochain is the total solution for all.

Consistent travel is good travel

Because Ochain is mounted on the crank spider, both descending and pedaling performance remain consistent, regardless of the gear you’re in. When you consider that hub-based options sacrifice points of engagement to provide travel, and also suffer from inconsistent travel that is either amplified while climbing or reduced during descending as the gear ratio jumps up or down, the choice is even more clear. Ochain gives you consistent and reliable, crank-based travel. And for maximum efficiency, pairing Ochain with a high point of engagement (PoE) hub removes any variability from the transmission of power, key for technical climbing.

Smooth power at the pedals. No clank.

Thanks to its two-stage spring and bumper design, Ochain power engagement feels satisfyingly smooth when transitioning from floating on the pedals to powering the pedals. Chainring travel is virtually imperceptible through the cranks, thanks to easily serviceable end-stop elastomers that seamlessly do their job. On the other end of the spectrum, hub-based options rely on metal-to-metal contact that clanks into place when trying to reengage power. Harsh.

Dial for more, or less

External Travel Adjust (Ochain R and S) lets riders fine-tune the amount of travel with a simple turn of a dial. Choose 0º, 3°, 6°, 9°, or 12°. Go for more or less to match terrain, riding style, and bike setup.

SRAM Ochain R exploded view with all small parts

Most versatile. Most reliable.

With tougher, more robust construction that meets both ISO and SRAM fatigue testing standards, along with improved contamination resistance from new gasket materials and new double lip silicone seals, Ochain keeps lubrication in and water out. This delivers the quietest, longest wearing, smoothest running Ochain ever.

Upgrade with a simple kit

The Ochain External-Adjust Upgrade Kit lets Ochain N and E riders swap to a dial-adjust faceplate that works just like Ochain R or S. With a premium finish to match Maven Ultimate and Eagle Transmission, riders can tune degrees up or down, right on the trail, for max efficiency on tech climbs, or max feel on the way down.

Service it when you service that

Full Ochain service intervals align with suspension service (200h of ride time) and can be done by most home mechanics. Thanks to a new sealing system, expect nothing less than super low contamination and super high performance between those intervals.
