CHAIN LENGTH & SETUP KEY CALCULATOR

Eagle Transmission derailleurs have no adjustment screws—just a few simple steps for a perfect setup. Every bike model and chainring size combination requires a defined chain length, Setup Key position, and Setup Cog. Find these specifications for your bike in the Chain Length Guide, a database of all Eagle Transmission-compatible models, Found below and in the SRAM AXS app.

Proper setup is essential to extending the lifetime of your Eagle Transmission, so even if you purchased your bike from a shop or straight from the factory, we recommend checking your setup before you ride.

TECH TIP: If you change your chainring size or adjust your bike's geometry with a flip-chip, you'll need to verify your new settings in the Chain Length Guide. If any settings change, complete the derailleur setup procedure again.

Brake lever adjustment

Braking is a one-finger job, designed with your index finger in mind. Adjust the lever so that it's within reach of your index finger, moving the clamp along the bar to make it easy to engage. Want to adjust your SRAM brake lever position? Learn more here.

Slide your shifters

Reaching to shift? Move the shifter clamp toward the grips to find a comfortable spot for you. Shifters in your way? Move them away from the grips to find a spot within reach without interfering.

Tech tip: For proper shift under load, eMTBs must use the Single-Click shifters. All other bikes can use either the Single-Click or Double-Click shifters.

Bash guard customization

Bash Guards are optional add-ons to protect your chainring teeth from damage during impact. Install or swap the Bash Guard to the underside of the chainring with your dominant foot forward, or install a bash guard on both sides of the chainring for dual-sided protection.

Clean is fast, and lasts

To maximize drivetrain lifespan and ensure the quietest performance—especially on E-MTBs—we recommend cleaning and lubricating Eagle Transmission after every muddy, dusty, and creek-crossing kinda ride. A regularly cleaned and lubricated drivetrain can significantly outlast an unmaintained one, as dirt and grime trapped on a dirty drivetrain will accelerate wear and cause noise.
